If you are a regular reader of this blog, you will know about the social media content conference I have had the pleasure of being involved with over the last few months. Well, I thought I’d give you all an update!
Its getting really exciting. All those months ago when we first started to talk about it, it seemed like it was an age away and going to happen to someone else! Now as I write, we are less than three weeks away from one of the most important events to happen in the history of Wales’s social media development.
Make no mistake. This isn’t some fly by night event aimed at making a fast buck and then disappearing. No one is selling ANYTHING here, and the event wont even turn any profit as any proceeds will go to charity. This is about education.
Education in the sense we are putting on an event aimed at teaching the SME of Wales all they need to know to drive their business forward. Education in the sense that you should get an insight into the world of social media marketing or content marketing as it is increasingly described, by seeing a line up of speakers unrivalled in this space, in this country.
Jay Cooper – MD of Bloom, a social agency at the top of their game, working with huge brands. Jay will help you ‘socialise’ your business in ways new to us all.
Emma Meese – The lady that trains the journalists at the BBC in how to use this stuff to find stories and report the things that matter.
Marc Webber – The man who put ITV and The Sun online – need I say more?
James Cridland – An internationally demanded and acclaimed blogger, speaker and thought leader in these matters.
Pippa Davies – Super creative brain and teacher, who worked with Governments and some of the biggest brands in the world. Seriously.
Andrew Grill – The CEO of Kred. These guys are ‘selling’ their understanding of online influence, such is their expertise. Andrew is a top bloke, and extremely entertaining to boot.
And of course, the man himself, Mr Mark Schaefer!
It’s fair to say this would not be happening without the generosity of Mark. He has selflessly given of his time, not only for the event, but to promote it too. And, like every single other speaker, totally free of charge.
The aim is simple, to help people. To help businesses to help themselves. I don’t think there has ever been as powerful media as readily available to everyone as those that are broadly described by the term social media. Including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Flickr, Pinterest, Instagram, Stumbleupon, Reddit etc. etc. The options are endless and the scope mind-boggling.
So how do you use it to its best advantage? What platforms are best for you? More importantly, what is it you actually DO, once you have set yourself up on these platforms?
It’s clear that simply ‘broadcasting’ to your audience as we have always done in the TV and Press and of course on Radio, doesn’t work. In the sense that we are finding it increasingly difficult to understand where we can actually get a decent return on investment from our efforts. It’s like its always been, difficult to get a handle on, but made worse by a blizzard of options.
We’ve all worked out it’s not free after all. We’ve all worked out it’s not for broadcasting to our clients. So what IS it for? And how do we use it effectively? These are some of the questions we will be looking to answer at the conference.
I anticipate you’ll have inspiration alongside these answers too. These speakers are at the top of their game. They are experts that know how to rock a room, and will be great value for the admission price.
On top of all of this social media goodness, you’ll get a day out at the luxurious Celtic Manor Resort in acres of beautiful Welsh woodland. You’ll get tea or coffee on arrival, a couple of breaks to keep you rested and focussed and an awesome 5 Star Celtic Manor buffet lunch. You’ll also get the chance to get your complimentary copy of Return on Influence signed by Mark Schaefer too.
Miss it, Miss out!
Let me know below or on Twitter whether you are coming! And I’ll look forward to seeing you there!
